My Secret Cranberry Walnut Christmas Bread

(See the title?? SECRET! DO NOT READ!!)

To make two loaves:

Squeeze the juice from two huge navel oranges into a measuring cup.
Put the pulp in the juice.
Add enough boiling water to make 1 1/2 cups liquid.
Add 4 tablespoons real butter and stir so that the butter melts.

In a huge mixing bowl beat together 2 cups of sugar and two eggs.
Pour the juice mix into the huge mixing bowl with the sugar and egg mix.
Add one whole bag of raw cranberries that you have rinsed in cold water. Frozen berries are okay.
Add at least two cups of walnuts. I like them simply shelled, not chopped.
Stir thoroughly.

Put in 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon baking soda.

Then mix in 4 cups of flour and carefully and thoroughly stir.

Pour into two loaf pans. Sprinkle red and green decorations on the top.
Bake at least 1 hour at 325°.

Perfected on December 21, 2005.
